After trying my sample pack I purchased Fin De Siècle and Gilded.
I have had so many compliments on them both from family, friends, at the hair salon and complete strangers. I am happy to share the information of Libertine and hope it helps to spread awareness of how fine Libertine is and the fact that one needn’t buy commercial mass produced scents from out of Canada. Thank You.
I ordered the sample set before deciding on which scent to buy a full bottle of ( scents ?) and this is the first fragrance I put on. My first reaction was NO - not for me, too heavy, too heady, just too much.....but then it settled in and I could not stop smelling my arm. Now 4 hours later I am bewitched. It isn't for everyone, and it isn't for everyday but wow. I can't wait to try the others!
It all started with the sampling program. From the moment I sprayed Fin de Siècle on my arm it instantly smelled familiar. It took me a few minutes to place it though, when I did it hit me like a ton of bricks… Thrills! That’s right, Thrills. The purple Canadian gum that “still tastes like soap”. I realize that fragrance smells different on everybody, but that’s what it smells like on me. I imagine it’s the rose, as the gum is supposedly rose water flavoured. Either way, I like Thrills and I love this perfume. I immediately knew I had to have the full size bottle. It’s only con for me is the patchouli. I don’t like patchouli on it’s own, and that is the note that seems to linger longest on me. I do find it quite potent, one spray on my neck and one spray on my wrist/elbow lasts all day. I can still smell it on myself 12+ hours later.
Depending on my mood my other favourite is Eros Fig, completely different but smells so good. I also like Troubled Spirits, I think I will add that to my collection come fall/winter.
One last thing, the shipping was incredibly fast! I imagine living in Alberta has something to do with it, but I ordered Tuesday night and had my package in my hands Thursday morning. Top notch! I will definitely be purchasing again, as I think these have earned a place in my permanent rotation.
It's a very sexy, slightly boozy rose scent (rather than an overly sweet, feminine one) with a beautiful woody drydown. I do wish the online photos were more up to date with regards to the new label. You can find the new design on Instagram that features a modern black/white geometric design rather than the clean text displayed on this webpage, which I find to be more classic. No big deal though, it's the same beautiful scent I tried out with the sampling program. Josh provides lovely and thoughtful customer service and also sent along a sample of the Hinoki Moss Incense cones which are intoxicating in an addictive way.
